That’s what they all said,
The tree is lit, the fire glows softly,
Yet inside, there’s a chill that glows.
I think we use Christmas as a checkpoint,
Every holiday, reminiscing of what we had,
What we’ve lost, the missing puzzle piece,
What it should have been, what it could have been.
Flooded with the feelings of familiarity,
Scented candle, warmth coming from the fireplace.
But we also met with the awareness of change,
That everything has changed since last we decorated the Christmas tree.
Maybe for some of you, there is no more Christmas tree this year.
Maybe you’ve seen some heartbreak this year,
Maybe you’ve experienced loss,
Maybe you’ve done some healing
Maybe. You’re still working on it.
But no matter what, you’ve grown,
And I’m so proud of you for all who’ve made it through this year,
Even to the one who hasn’t quite made it through, it gets better.
You are loved,
You are cherished,
Your story isn’t over.
Stay here.
Merry Christmas to everyone whose Christmas feels a bit different this year.
Merry Christmas, even when Christmas isn’t quite the same
Will you stay here with us?
Need to talk?
